Washington renews its call for the parties to the conflict in Yemen to go to the dialogue table

Washington has called on the conflicting parties in Yemen to the dialogue table, saying that the disputants should know "there is no military victory there."

This came at a press conference of Robert Paladino, deputy spokesman of the US State Department, the ministry's website was quoted Wednesday evening.

"We follow closely the developments in al-Hodeidah," said Baladino, "as the Minister (US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo) says, we call on all parties to the dialogue table and know that there is no military victory that can be achieved in Yemen."

"We also urge all parties to cease hostilities and support the work of the UN envoy in Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in finding a peaceful solution to the conflict."

In the context, Paladino stressed that Washington was very clear with Saudi, Emirati and Yemeni officials regarding any attempts to destroy Yemen's infrastructure, and how to deliver aid to citizens.

"We were clear with them and destroying vital infrastructures or obstructing the delivery of aid and goods is unacceptable," he said.
