Government prepares two black and white lists for traders who support and manipulate prices

The Yemeni government's Ministry of Industry and Trade has said it is working on the preparation of two black and white lists, one for traders supporting the market with foodstuffs, and the other for manipulators with the prices of those essential items.

This came at a meeting of agents and Directors of the Ministry of Interior in the southern city of Aden, headed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Salem al-Wali, according to the state news agency Saba.

The meeting discussed the mechanisms through which the terms and standards will be applied through the Ministry and the Economic Commission, to establish a basis for dealing with authorized dealers who are allowed to import essential foodstuffs such as wheat, rice, sugar, oil, and dairy.

All those standards will be applied, he said, with traders able to import those foodstuffs at reasonable prices.

For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry Ali Atef stressed that the factor of deduction between traders is the factor of competition, through which the best and lowest prices will be offered to the markets, calling for all of the authority, merchants, and specialists in industry and trade to join together and cooperate in order to achieve food and nutritional stability.
