Al Qaeda Cell to assassinate officials in Shabwa caught

The Yemeni News Agency (Saba) said on Sunday that the police force in Shabwa province has arrested a terrorist cell of al Qaeda organization, which was planning to assassinate governmental officials in the province.



The cell was led by the extremist leader of the organization, Sultan Ahmed Warazan (Aba Hothaifah), one of the most dangerous and wanted terrorists in the region. the agency added


The Agency quoted Shabwa police chief the Gen. Awad Massoud al Dahbul saying that a security unit raided the cell's place last night in Ataq city and arrested three of them after exchanging fire, wounding the leader in his foot.


Al Dahbul, the police chief, declared that the terrorist Abu Hothaifah was the responsible of the killing of the security chick point officers in Rodhum district in the end of last January, and confirmed that the security services are tracing the rest of the terrorist cell elements.
